Thassos
The greenest island in the Aegean, and the only one you can reach with your own car in half a day.
The drive
Two hours to Keramoti, a forty-minute ferry with the car on board, and you are in Limenas. The island ring road is 100 km and you can do all of it in a day: Chrisi Ammoudia, Golden Beach, the marble quarries and Theologos up in the hills. In summer the ferry runs almost hourly.
What to watch out for
- Ferry tickets are bought at the port — no booking needed outside August
- The ring road has sharp bends on the south side
- Fill up on the mainland — fuel is dearer on the island
Road: A2 Egnatia → Keramoti → 40-min ferry
